Biography
Fueling her passion to serve, Biola founded a leadership fellowship and mentorship program, Grooming for Greatness (G4G), to cultivate leadership in young, aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Unilever Nigeria where she serves on the Audit Committee. She is the Chairwoman of Big Cabal Media, an African technology company, and Monty Mobile a global telecommunications company with its headquarters in London.
Biola has become known for her leadership in the community as well as her skills in media and entertainment management, negotiation, corporate social responsibility and business planning. In 2016, she founded The Biola Alabi Media Company, which provides strategic consultancy and business advisory to corporate entities across Africa.
She was named one of the 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa by Forbes Magazine (2012), a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (2012) and CNBC Africa’s AABLA West African Businesswoman of the Year (2013). Biola held the high-profile position of Managing Director for M-Net Africa, part of the globally-renowned Naspers Group. She helped transform the broadcasting and film industry in Africa with a focus on locally produced content. She launched seven Africa Magic channels including the indigenous language channels, Africa Magic Yoruba and Hausa. She also developed the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, which is regarded as the “African Oscars”.
Biola Alabi is the publisher of The Adventures of Lara and Dara, which was named the Young Readers Library’s Book of Summer (2019). She is the executive producer of two award-winning feature films currently streaming on Netflix, Lara and the Beat and Banana Island Ghost in addition to numerous television shows like Big Brother Africa, Face of Africa, Tinsel, Bukas and Joints, Boxing Telenovela: Kona (250 episodes) filmed in Kenya, and the documentary series, Great Africans. She is an expert at launching consumer and entertainment products and creating groundbreaking programming for a compelling mix of local and international audiences.
An active angel investor and advisor in fast-growing African technology and media startup ecosystems, Alabi has invested in companies like Big Cabal Media, Stears Business, Nature’s Bounty, Café Neo, Trove Technologies, True Flutter, Taeillo, Chekkit Technologies, Zuzu, and is a limited partner in Ventures Platform, a Pan-African early-stage fund.
Prior to these accomplishments, Biola lived in the United States where she was part of the executive team of the influential children’s television brand, Sesame Street, and a member of the marketing team that launched the well-respected Korean motor vehicle corporation, Daewoo, in the US.
She has also spoken globally on Africa angel investing, the African creative arts industry, opportunities available on the continent, the success of Nollywood, and the need for ongoing investment into entrepreneurship, gender equality, and skills sharing initiatives.
Respected as an expert in her field, Biola’s speaking engagements have included Faculty at Africa Leadership University (ALU Rwanda), Innovation in Television Conference (Jerusalem), Institute of Communications, Telecommunications and Media Forum (Brussels).

Biola is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati where she graduated with a degree in Public and Community Health. She has spent recent years polishing her knowledge with executive education programs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and Yale University's Jackson Institute of Global Affairs. In 2014, she also participated in The Yale World Fellows Flagship Program at Yale University.
